The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Secretary Silvestre Bello III suspended the deployment of workers to Kuwait Friday in light of the death of seven OFWs.

“To effect the order, he directed the POEA to stop processing of overseas employment certificates of Kuwait-bound workers,” said DOLE in a statement.

“The order, issued late afternoon, takes effect immediately,” added the labor department.

On Thursday, President Duterte said he is studying the possibility of imposing a deployment ban for all types of Filipino workers in Kuwait.
