Five players scored in double figures for San Sebastian as they took over late in the ball game and defeat the University of the Philippines, 93-84 in Day Three of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League National Capital Region Qualifiers Wednesday afternoon, January 17, at the Jose Rizal University Gymnasium.
Michael Calisaan showed the way for the Stags with a double-double performance, scoring 21 points and collecting 12 rebounds. SSC-R also got valuable contributions from the bench with Jayson Well David and Lorenzo Navarro, contributing 12 and 10 points respectively.
UP star Paul Desiderio led the Fighting Maroons with 23 points on 53-percent shooting from the field. The Fighting Maroons will fall short in the PCCL NCR Qualifiers, splitting their assignments with a 1-1 win-loss card.
With a clean 2-0 slate in Group B, the Stags punched their ticket to the championship game against fellow undefeated Colegio de San Lorenzo Griffins from Group A.
The PCCL NCR Qualifiers Finals go down tomorrow from the JRU Gym in Mandaluyong City at 3:00 PM. San Sebastian and CDSL slug it out for a slot in the Elite 8.
