Dela Rosa was particularly eyeing on rookie cops, or those with the rank of Police Officers 1 who received 100-percent salary increase—from monthly P15,000 to P30,000 base pay.

“Now that their salary is doubled, much more that they have no reason to do illegal activities,” said dela Rosa.

Based on the PNP data, majority of the policemen who are involved in various illegal activities are those with the rank of Police Officer 1.

“I will immediately dismiss them, I promise you that, especially the PO1s whose salaries were doubled,” the official said.

The chief PNP said the increase in their salary does not only call for good services but active response against his men who would be involved in illegal activities.

Even if there is no salary increase, he said policemen should refrain from illegal activities and must be dealt with to protect the organization.

But dela Rosa said every policeman should do his/ her job well as an expression of gratitude or payback to the salary increase.

“So if you are assigned to conduct, do your job well and do it aggressively. If you are an investigator, then contribute to increase the crime solution efficiency,” said dela Rosa.
