Singer and actress Dara, former member of K-pop girl group 2NE1, attended the 119th Philippine Independence Day and Migrant Workers Day celebration in Seoul, South Korea.
Philippine Ambassador to Korea Raul Hernandez led the twin celebration called “Bayanihan sa Korea 2017” held June 11 at Banpo Park in Seoul together with embassy officials.
Besides Dara, Michael Pangilinan and Liezel Garcia were there to perform before the Filipino community. There are more than 50,000 Filipinos living in South Korea.
In her speech, Dara said, “Philippines is my second home.”
Dara said she was in London last week for a shooting and Filipinos told her staff that they support her.
Hernandez awarded Dara a plaque of appreciation as Friendship Ambassador for being an instrument in promoting ties between the Philippines and South Korea.
She was recognized “in grateful appreciation of her commitment to promote the Philippines as a tourist destination; her efforts portrayed the best of the Philippines through her television programs and various guest appearances; her strong links with the Filipinos and the Philippines; her support to the Philippine Embassy in Seoul and her role as an instrument to bridge the Philippines and the Republic of Korea.”
