Las Piñas LGU distributes vegetable seedlings

Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar distributed vegetable seedling during a health and wellness caravan held in Manuyo Dos on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Aguilar said the City Agriculture Office (CAO) headed by Dr. August Michael Basangan distributed seedlings of vegetables like sili, okra, talong, calamansi, and papaya to more than 600 residents so they can start growing their own food.

She said the CAO’s initiative supports food security and complements health benefits by fostering healthier living through urban gardening.

The mayor said the caravan offered various health services such as medical consultations, blood sugar and cholesterol tests, dental check-ups, chest X-rays, and ECG screenings.

Aguilar said senior citizens received pneumonia vaccinations and free medicines.

Also included was the mobile birth registration and aid in PhilHealth and Green Card enrollment.

Las Piñas City Vice Mayor April Aguilar, together with City Health Office (CHO) head Dr. Juliana Gonzalez, personally checked and attended to the needs of residents, showing the city government's commitment to public health initiatives.

Gonzalez highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and early illness detection as well as the positive impact of urban gardening on both physical and mental health.

She said the caravan reaffirmed the city government’s mission to uplift the health and wellbeing of its residents and assured them that government services will be made available to them.
