Action sought on plant operations
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod here sees positive action by the city government of Tacloban in connection with the recommendation of the City Health Office (CHO) and barangay officials and residents of Barangay Marasbaras in connection with the operation of a manufacturing plant here.
Councilor Jerry S. Uy, chairman of the committee on laws, rules and regulations of the Sangguniang Pan-lungsod said “positive action by the city government of Tacloban is now needed and not by the City Council as it is the function and duty of the executive department to enforce the laws and regulations.”
Uy said it is not the function of the City Council but the Office of the Mayor to enforce the closure of the BMEG plant located in Brgy. Marasbras.
The action of the city councilors came after aggrieved residents of said barangay were told by the Office of the Mayor to go to the City Council and seek audience with the city lawmakers.
