Cop allegedly pulls out gun at 'Bourne' set, causes commotion

MANILA, Philippines – A drunk cop was arrested by Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) officials after allegedly pulling out a gun in the presence of a woman at the heavily-guarded set of “The Bourne Legacy” on Leveriza St., Malate, Thursday morning.
Citing a dzBB feed, gmanews.tv reported on Jan. 12 that the incident happened “at 5 a.m. at the corner of Quirino Avenue and Leveriza Street." Initial investigation showed that the cop, identified as SPO1 Henry Escoto, “approached a woman in the area and allegedly poked a firearm at her, startling the people in the area.” Escoto was said to be in civilian clothing.
Filipino crewmembers reportedly saw the commotion; however, it isn’t certain whether members of the foreign crew did as well.
A separate report on “24 Oras,” also on Thursday, said that Escoto was assigned at Station 6 of the Manila Police District.
The complainant, resident Annaliza Huleza, irately related to “24 Oras,” “Nag-banyo, may baril pa rin. ‘Di ba? Nakita mo naman ‘yan? Diyos ko.”
Later on she added, “Loaded pala ‘yung kanyang bala (referring to the gun), hindi ko alam na pulis pala ‘yan siya.”
The responding MMDA officials recovered a “fully loaded” 9mm gun from Escoto.
Escoto admitted to being drunk but denied the accusation.
“Hindi ako nag-bunot. Magmula d’un (points to his left) hanggang sa kanila, nakikita nila hindi ako nagbubunot,” he slurred.
Escoto was immediately brought to MPD Station 9 for questioning. More, the same gmanews.tv article said that administrative and criminal charges might be filed against him.
According to a separate report in the same “24 Oras” episode, the second shooting day of “Bourne” wrapped up at around 5 p.m. The already tight security was reportedly heightened because lead star Jeremy Renner was allegedly in the shooting area. However, reports said that Renner did not film any scene that day yet.
Meanwhile, the same report revealed that up to seven local actors have been tapped to play roles in the movie. Among these are theater actors Madeleine Nicolas, John Arcilla, Lou Veloso and Ermie Concepcion; and local horror film habitué Lilia Cuntapay.
