HANGZHOU, China — Efren “Bata” Reyes and Rubilen Amit face a daunting task to retain their crown when they compete in the World Mixed Doubles Championship starting Wednesday here.

Though both Reyes and Amit are still favored to retain their title in the tournament that offers $15,000 to the champion pair, they are expected to encounter rough sailing this time as several world champions will also compete, including newly crowned World 10-ball champion Kelly Fisher.

Fisher will team up with Tommy Donlon to make up for one of two British teams.

Reyes and Amit lifted the inaugural tournament two years ago in Manila.

The other Filipino team will be composed of Lee Van Corteza and SEA Games double gold medalist Iris Ranola.
