Aquino visits Filipino community in Tokyo
TOKYO, Japan-- He said they were his ‘boss’. So it was just fitting that they were first on his agenda.
President Aquino spoke with the Filipino community in Tokyo shortly after arriving here Sunday for a four-day official visit.
In the community gathering, the President interacted with the community leaders and members and heard their issues and concerns.
He said many Filipinos leave the country because they can no longer stand the fact that those with "wang-wang" mentality get rich while those who remain clean and do what is right remained poor.
He was referring to the sense of entitlement that some Filipino public servants assert and get to enjoy while in position.
"We are aware of this system. A wang-wang system that maybe pushed most of you to try their luck abroad, to get away from an abusive government," Aquino said.
Also, he told Filipino the good news and it was a surprise for them.
President Aquino III said the Land Bank of the Philippines and the Japan Post Bank launched a remittance tie up.
“We learned that for every remittance transactions, you pay a high remittance fee. With the tie up, you now pay lower fees," he said.
