MANILA, Philippines – Ellen DeGeneres’ Filipina housekeeper Mindy is apparently gaining more prominence these days, having been tapped as the former’s correspondent at the recently concluded 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards held in Los Angeles, California.

“I'll be interviewing the winners after they win,” she told “Balitang America” at the red carpet of the star-studded event.

Feeling excited with her Hollywood assignment, Mindy admitted that she “never dreamed that I will be in this event. Never in my life. But I’m here now!”

Interview with the stars

Prior to this gig, Mindy has landed her own segments on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” titled “Mindy’s Reality Roundup” and “Mindy’s Movie Minute,” where she gives hilarious comments on American TV shows and films.

Mindy’s latest on-cam assignment had her rubbing elbows with Emmy winners Jim Parsons (Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for “The Big Bang Theory”), Melissa McCarthy (Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for “Modern Family”), Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell (Supporting Actress and Actor in a Comedy Series, respectively, both for “Modern Family”), and Guy Pearce (Supporting Actor in a Mini-series/Movie for “Mildred Pierce“).

Her exclusive interviews with these celebrities are seen in her special segment “Mindy’s Emmy Roundup,” which was uploaded on TheEllenShow YouTube channel on Sept. 20.

"I'm as nervous to meet you ‘coz, for God’s sake, you work with Ellen,” Jim, her first interviewee, told Mindy.

Asked what he’ll do with his trophy, Jim said, "I think I'll put in on my piano at home."

To which Mindy said, "How do you keep it shiny? Do you want some tips?"

Meanwhile, Mindy jokingly attempted to take Melissa’s trophy. The latter, however, said, "You can't keep it Mindy."

Mindy didn’t hide her enthusiasm for “Modern Family” during her interview with Julie and Ty, saying, “I love to watch your show.”

"I love to watch your earrings. They're beautiful,” said Ty, pertaining to Mindy’s huge, dangling pair of hoops.

When she queried the two if they’re “really married in real life,” Ty quipped, "Not really. But our fake marriage is very strong."

Mindy also shared a funny banter with Guy, who asked her, “So who's keeping the house at this point?”

"She's (Ellen) keeping the house now. We changed places...,” Mindy responded.

The Tarlac, Pampanga native also told Guy, who considers his Emmy win as his “first ever sort of award,” that “we have a lot of those (trophies) in Ellen’s place.”

“I think we have like 10...I'm dusting them all the time… oh my,” she added, laughing.

The two also complimented each other’s accents, with Mindy asking Guy to teach her a famous Australian expression. He chose “fair dinkum,” which, he explained, “means yeah, that’s the truth.”

The interview culminated with Mindy and Guy posing for a photo, which the former took with her camera phone.

Ellen's blessings

Ellen herself had previously lauded her housekeeper’s performance as a commentator.

“My housekeeper, Mindy, should really join the Academy,” she wrote on her Facebook fan page last Feb. 24.

The TV host also said on Twitter last May 17, "My housekeeper Mindy reviews Reality TV for me. If she keeps this up, she might be reviewing her own spin-off show."

And after Mindy reviewed “Survivor: Redemption Island” and imitated the Boston accent on one episode, Ellen commented, “That’s a good idea for another segment for Mindy, Mindy’s accents. We should get her to do a lot of accents.”
