NPA rebel operating in Kalinga surrenders to Pangasinan police officer
NARVACAN, Ilocos Sur, Philippines (PNA) - A member of the New People’s Army (NPA) operating along the Cordillera mountains voluntarily surrendered to authorities with the help of a police official in Pangasinan, it was reported here on Monday.
Police identified the surrenderee as Froilan Culang, also known as “Ka John,” 23, a native of Kalinga province who is a member of "Kilusang Larangang Guerilla (KLG) Bagkas" Operating in Kalinga province.
Culang reportedly signified his intention to surrender to Chief Inspector Froilan Lopez, head of the Investigation Division of the Pangasinan police office, when the latter went home to Kalinga province recently.
It was reported that the Culang agreed to surrender after Lopez promised to help him continue his studies.
Lopez added that Culang is presently under tactical interrogation in the provincial police office in Kalinga while the benefits that he may claim for surrendering are still being processed. (PNA)
