DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Philippines (PIA) – The Negros Oriental provincial government is set to pour in nearly P20 million for agricultural development efforts in Negros Oriental, Philippines.

Governor Roel Degamo, in his speech during the recent turnover ceremony of the Barangay Agricultural Development Center (BADC) to the leadership of Brgy. Balaas in Manjuyod town, this province, said the amount will be used for the purchase
of farm inputs such as seed inoculants.

A seed inoculant, according to Capitol Information Officer Adrian Sedillo, is a cost-efficient strain of trichoderma that will help convert organic fertilizers into yield-boosting elements needed by developing plants.

Sedillo said farmers in the province can avail of the seed inoculants through their respective BADCs at no expense. Farmers will pay the cost after their harvest.

Degamo has observed that seed inoculants will help farmers cut back on fertilizer and planting cost by as much as 50 percent.
