The wedding of Senator Mar Roxas II and TV broadcaster Korina Sanchez has been reset to October 27, 2009 to accommodate the arrival of friends and relatives abroad who will attend their much anticipated church wedding.

Originally set for October 23, Sanchez bared the reasons for the change in the date of their wedding, in “Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN)” aired live over ABS-CBN Wednesday night. It is hosted by Boy Abunda and co-hosted by Mariel Rodriguez, who substituted for host Kris Aquino, who is on 10-day vacation in Hawaii.

Sanchez, host of the popular magazine show “Rated K” aired on the same channel, said that she and Mar will wait for her best friend who will be part of the wedding entourage. “Nung sinabi ng bestfriend ko na hindi s’ya pwede nung original dating wedding namin, sabi ko sa sarili ko hindi pwede yun. Dapat andun sya sa araw ng aking kasal.’’

She also said that they will have to wait for their relatives from abroad who are also expected to attend their wedding at Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City. Another reason, she added, is that the venue for the reception will not be available on October 23.

Sanchez, 44, said that the change in their wedding date will give them more time to prepare for the wedding. “For a while, nahinto ang preparations namin para sa wedding dahil sa mga political plan ni Mar. Pero ngayon, nag-resume na uli kami ng pag-aasikaso para sa kasal namin.’’

Paolo Roxas, 15, son of Mar Roxas, is expected to be the best man in the wedding, Sanchez also said. Mar is the grandson of former President Manuel Roxas.

It was recalled that Mar, 52, son of former Senator Gerry Roxas and Judy Araneta, has changed his political plan by sacrificing his presidential bid in favor of Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Since Noynoy announced his decision to run for president in the 2010 elections, Roxas has not decided on what political position he would pursue. But unconfirmed reports said that Roxas will accept the offer of Noynoy as his running mate next year.
