While rejecting reports that President Arroyo underwent removal and replacement of breast silicone implants, Malacañang admitted on Friday she had biopsy to check on the lumps in her breast and groin, which were found to be“benign.”

Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said the President, who has been phoning him up, was “dismayed” over the reports claiming that she had surgical operation to repair alleged leaking breast implants done in the 1980s during her two-day stay self-quarantine at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa.

He was quick to add that it was normal "human reaction when you are subjected to exaggerated reports.”

He said during the President’s normal and regular” check up at the hospital, a mass has been found in her breast and in her groin in her magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tests, but maintained that there is nothing to worry about because she is in good condition.

According to the Palace official, the lumps were discovered “earlier” during her medical check up at the Asian Hospital before she went to Pampanga to visit her infrastructure projects in June 15, two days before she flew for her 13-day, five-nation visits that ended on Monday night.

“There is biopsy made, the result is negative. The President is in pink of health,” Remonde told in a press briefing.

He described the earlier reports as “totally absurd,” citing that the Palace stood by its statement that the President had his regular medical check up at the Asian Hospital.

“I stand by our statement that the results of the check ups were all positive…Life begins at 40 and you start beginning to get sick, especially women. It is normal regular, ongoing check ups,” he said.

In a signed letter, President Arroyo’s attending physician and gynecologist Dr. Maria Theresa Tangkeko-Lopez said the Chief Executive left the Asian Hospital with a clean bill of health ending her two-day quarantine.

“Some of the test results which needed further follow up came out while she was still on her trip. So when we she was admitted for quarantine in accordance to the influenza A(H1N1) advisory, biopsies were done which turned out to be normal and she was discharged with a clean bill of health,” Remonde said the Palace will not hunt after those who leaked about the President’s breast implants, dispelling that such is just “part of the current political culture.”

Asked why Malacanang did not immediately bare about President’s biopsy tests, he quipped: “If there is something, I’ll give her medical bulletin, pero wala e,” referring to the negative biopsy results.
