The Pussycat Dolls want to sing for Pacquiao
World-renowned girl group, The Pussycat Dolls (PCD) gave majority of the local entertainment press about 10 minutes yesterday, June 8 at Siete Pecados inside the Sofitel Hotel.
Wearied by jetlag from their months-long world tour, the ladies mostly meowed variations of one message:
“Dontcha”’ dare miss their June 11 concert at the Mall of Asia concert grounds because they’re going to “loosen up your buttons, babe.”
PCD lead vocalist Nicole Scherzinger, who is Filipino-Russian, did not disappoint those who raised leading questions to induce Filipino-relevant answers.
She said she is willing to sing with or remake a song by Filipino singer Lea Salonga whose music she grew up on.
She said that she wants to sing the Philippine National Anthem at Manny Pacquiao’s next match. She said she has been “following” Pacquiao’s matches, and that she might end up working with the Pac-Man if his Hollywood movie with Sylvester Stallone materializes.
She said that she and The Black Eyed Peas might collaborate in the future.
She said that her campaign with Clear Shampoo, a Filipino brand, is the biggest endorsement she has ever had. “To be part of such a great brand that reaches out to the Asian market means so much to me,” she said.
She said that like in their previous show here, she expects the Filipinos to have a good time in the Philippine leg of the “The Doll Domination” tour.
She, along with the rest of the Pussycat Dolls, then said sayonara and proceeded to their one-on-one Q&A sessions.
That meant time’s up. Clear.
(Clear, MTV Philippines and MCA Music Inc sponsor the “A Clear Doll Domination: The Pussycat Dolls Live in Manila.”
The Pussycat Doll’s latest CD is titled “Doll Domination.” It comes in an original Deluxe 2CD edition, and a new All-hit Edition that includes their remake of “Jai Ho,” a song from the Oscar-winning movie, “Slumdog Millionaire.”
The Pussycat Dolls has sold at least seven million copies of their self-titled album. Among their hits are “Stick Wit U,” “When I Grow Up,” “I Hate This Part,” “Beep” and “Jai Ho.”)
