Free WiFi in Cavite to roll out by November – Remulla

CAVITE – The provincial government's free WiFi project will be enjoyed in the first target communities by November, Governor Jonvic Remulla announced on Thursday (October 15).

The project aims to provide Internet connectivity to public school students now that face-to-face classes are restricted due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

"Best estimate is that we will have close to 100 percent completion by March 2021. The first communities, by end-November 2020," Remulla wrote on his Facebook page.

"Paalala: ito po ay para sa mga public school students at sa pag-gamit ng programa ayon sa DepEd. Hindi po ito para sa gaming, social media, online bullying, trolling or para mag request ng #WalangPasok. (Reminder: this is for public school students accessing the Department of Education's program. It's not for gaming, social media, online bullying, trolling, or to request for class cancelation)," he added.

The provincial government is also planning a free targeted COVID-testing program for its educators. Cavite has 21,000 teachers.

The local government unit is also developing an initiative to help parents adjust to the new normal of “teaching from home.”
