The recipient of the food packages were some 400 families in San Juan last Wednesday, while hundreds of PPEs – face masks and hazmat – were given to the city government of Pasig last Friday.
“Last week our players and coaches pledged portion of their salaries. The total amount we got were used for food and PPEs that we donated to Pasig and San Juan,” said Bugia when contacted by the Manila Bulletin.
“The players were thinking of ways on how to help. They feel blessed because… since we’re on a lockdown, they still get their salaries, while other people are really struggling to buy food.
“So that’s what they decided to give, food and also PPEs for our health workers."
San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora personally received the food packages last Wednesday from Phoenix governor Raymond Zorrilla and player Calvin Abueva, both residents of the city, and Bugia.
Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto was present to accept the PPE donations last Friday from Bugia and Intal, both Pasig residents.
Bugia said similar donations are possible in other cities.

“We’ll see. First the lockdown has been extended to up to May 15. What happens after that, we still don’t know. We also have to see the PBA decision regarding the season,” said Bugia.
