ILOILO CITY—At least 4,184 people have recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Western Visayas region.
This was after the Department of Health in Region 6 (DOH 6) recorded over the weekend a total of 441 COVID-19 recoveries in the region, which is comprised of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces, as well as, the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
DOH 6 recorded 359 COVID-19 recoveries on September 12, and another 82 recoveries on September 13. Majority of the recoveries were recorded in Negros Occidental province, Bacolod City and Iloilo City.
The total of 4,184 COVID-19 recoveries, as of September 13, was more than half of the total of 7,555 cases recorded in the region since March. It also showed that the recoveries surpassed the number of the region’s active cases of 3,253.
DOH-6 Chief for Infectious Diseases Dr. Marie Jocelyn Te earlier reiterated that majority of the COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas were asymptomatic, and that they were able to recover without any medical treatment.
But Te said the public must not be complacent as there were also severe COVID-19 cases, and the death toll in the region has risen to 118.
