Grammy winner and American thrash metal group Slayer will headline the much-awaited Pulp Summer Slam XIX, which will be held on March 23 at Amoranto Stadium.
Tom Araya, Kerry King, Paul Bostaph and Gary Holt will be coming to Manila for the event with the country being the only Southeast Asian stop for their Final World Tour.
The Pulp Summer Slam is the country’s biggest and Southeast Asia’s longest-running metal festival that draws about 30,000 fans each year.
In the worldwide list of Festival 250, curated by online B2B publication Festival Insights, Pulp Summer Slam ranked No. 229, up from No. 243 in the previous year.
Early this year, Slayer announced they would be doing their “One Final World Tour.”
“We’ve been blown away by the response we’ve been getting here in North America,” said King about the overwhelming response from fans during the first leg of their North American tour. “We’ve heard about fans who have driven five, six hours, or flown in from other cities or countries to see us, so we want to assure our fans that we’ll be on the road through 2019 and will get to as many places around the world as possible to make it easier for everyone to come and see us one last time.”
According to Araya, “I just want to take the time out to say thank you to all our fans who have made this first part of this tour phenomenal. You really are loyal and dedicated fans and we appreciate that so much from you. We still have quite a few places to play, so next year, keep your eyes and ears open so you can catch us live one last and final time. Again, thank you!”
Tickets to the Pulp Summer Slam XIX will be available starting Dec. 15 at all SM Tickets outlets and online at Ticketnet.
