Filipino movie “Signal Rock” is the country’s official entry to the Academy Awards 2019 under the Best Foreign Language Film Category.

The film was directed by award-winning writer, producer, and director Chito S. Roño, who was also the man behind the movies “Dekada ‘70,” “Yamashita: The Tiger's Treasure,” “Patayin sa sindak si Barbara,” “Feng Shui,” and “Sukob.”
“Signal Rock” is based on a true story and follows the narrative of a family set in the ‘90s in Biri Island, where Intoy, the central character, had to climb up strange rock formations to be able to acquire cellular signal so that he can contact his sister who is an overseas Filipino worker living in Finland.
The film was produced by CSR Productions and distributed by Regal Entertainment. It stars Christian Bables who plays the role of Intoy.
It took the cast and crew 15 days to film the entire story in Biri, Samar.
The 91st Academy Awards will be held on February 24 while the nominations will be announced on January 22.
