Education Secretary Leonor Briones has ordered a review of a Department of Education (DepEd) order mandating private schools to comply with its readiness assessment checklist for learning delivery modalities in the Learning Continuity Plan before they can operate this coming School Year (SY) 2020-2021.

However, the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA) maintained that the said Order should be suspended while being reviewed. “The review is internal to DepEd, it does not have any bearing on those affected by the Order,” COCOPEA Managing Director Joseph Noel Estrada told the Manila Bulletin. “Unless the implementation is suspended, a review alone may not be the proper action at this point,” he added.
