13 new COVID-19 deaths among Filipinos abroad reported

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday recorded 13 new deaths among Filipinos abroad due to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) infections.

Aside from the new fatalities, the DFA also reported
21 new confirmed cases and 15 recoveries among Filipino nationals in at least four countries in Asia and the Pacific and the Middle East.

No new updates from the Americas and Europe were received today.

As of August 28, 2020, the total number of COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos is 10,062. Of this number, 3,212 are undergoing treatment, 6,095 have recovered and 755 died of the disease.

Meanwhile, the DFA expressed its commitment to continue repatriating Filipinos abroad whose lives have been impacted by the pandemic as separate flights from the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia arrived on Thursday, reuniting hundreds of nationals to their loved ones.

“The DFA continues to do its best in bringing as many willing overseas Filipinos back home,” it said.
