By Chito Chavez The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has selected Manila as the launching pad for the Disiplina Muna (Discipline First) campaign in recognition of the political will of Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso in clearing all public properties from all sorts of obstructions. DILG Secretary Eduardo Año (Philippine Information Agency / MANILA BULLETIN) DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said Manila was picked first due to Moreno’s readiness to take on the challenge. He noted that what is evident is Moreno’s strong political will in instituting change to improve the city. Año, however, emphasized that road clearing is not the sole basis of this campaign, stressing the goal to instill discipline to all Filipinos. DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the “Disiplina Muna” muna campaign is an offshoot of the successful implementation of the road-clearing operations in the country. He explained that the campaign aims to revive and uplift the culture of discipline as a bridge toward real change. It will also put into practice the real concept of governance where citizens participate and know their responsibilities to help achieve national growth. “We are asking for the support of the public. The government cannot to this alone, we need your support,” Malaya said. Malaya also said the DILG will also implement the campaign in other cities nationwide.
