AOC eyes to increase market share of widescreen LCD monitors in RP
Positioned to be one of the top global providers of the best value display technology, Taiwan’s Admiral Overseas Corp. (AOC), targets to increase its market share of widescreen LCD monitors in the Philippines from 22 percent last year to 25 percent this 2009, according to Ula M. Ladrillo, product manager of Glee Electronics Inc., the local distributor of AOC.
In line with its objective, the company recently launched its EPEAT Gold Award-winning AOC 36 series - 936Sw 19-inch widescreen, 2236Vw 22-inch widescreen and 2436Vw 24-inch widescreen -- in the country.
Institutional purchasers use the online EPEAT, or Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool to select and compare computer desktops, laptops and monitors based on their environmental performance, in addition to cost and performance considerations. So far, the AOC's latest new monitors have achieved the highest standard of "Green" monitor.
Aside from its technology advancement, AOC, which is a green company, maintained an environmental-friendly mindset to preserve resources but does not sacrifice quality performance and great display for energy efficiency.
AOC monitors do not consume as much energy. In Power Saving mode, they only use up 50 percent electricity without affecting image quality and saves up to 104,000W per year. An 936Sw model can save up to 75 percent power versus CRT monitors.
When switched to Power Saving mode, the monitor only uses 50 percent of the power, this without affecting image quality and saving up to 104,000W per year. Up to 75 percent of the energy used in a typical LCD monitor can be saved while using the 936Sw compared to CRT monitors.
Meanwhile, AOC’s market leading i-Bright technology reduces backlight CCFL for lower power consumption and less mercury substance. A USB connector is also conveniently placed for easier attachment of devices.
All three models in the new AOC 36 series feature a USB connector and D-sub and DVI-D inputs. The 22-inch model is also wall-mountable, while the 24-inch model has a movable glass that adds a layer of protection to the screen.
The 936Sw costs P7,499; the 2236Vw, P8,999; and the 2436Vw, P10,399. The monitors are available from 800 Glee dealers nationwide.
