The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Thursday that tropical depression 'Agaton' has so far affected 7,989 families, or 33,084 persons, living in 189 barangays in the regions of Mimaropa, Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and CARAGA.

Of the total, 2,171 families, consisting of 8,926 individuals, are staying in 55 evacuation centers while another 332 families, composed of 1,437 persons, are being aided outside evacuation centers, said NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad.
Some 80 houses in Mimaropa, Eastern Visayas and CARAGA were reported damaged.
The agency has yet to provide estimates on damages to agriculture and infrastructure.
Jalad also reported that as of 8 a.m. Thursday, 4,559 families were preemptively evacuated in Mimaropa, Western and Central Visayas, Zamboanga, Northern Mindanao, and CARAGA.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development and concerned local government units have provided PHP1.07 million worth of aid to affected families in Visayas and CARAGA.
