The Philippine travel and tourism industry is celebrating a monumental achievement as Maria Paz Alberto, chairperson of the PATA Philippines Chapter, has officially secured a seat on the executive board of Pacific Asia Travel Association International (PATA). This milestone was solidified at the recent PATA International Travel Mart held in Bangkok, Thailand, where she was elected as an Executive Member and honored with the PATA Excellence Award 2025. More than a personal achievement, her appointment feels like a collective win, placing the Philippines firmly on the radar in one of the world's most influential travel organizations.
A legacy of leadership
Maria’s ascent to the PATA International Executive Board caps off an impressive 41-year career marked by resilience, forward thinking, and a deep-rooted passion for Philippine tourism. Her leadership, shaped by a strong academic foundation including a Ph.D. and executive education from Wharton & Harvard, has consistently pushed the boundaries of the local travel landscape.
Currently serving as the President of the Philippine IATA Agents Travel Association (PIATA), she has been a tireless advocate for travel agents, ensuring the industry remains competitive and professional.
